The Rhea County Informer uses contributors, tips,, websites and an array of other news and information sources that we feel serve as an informative non-biased economical way to INFORM our readers of what is happening in their communities. We focus primarily on rhea County and realize that the days of printed old styled newspapers are almost over. The old style newspapers must rely upon advertising to make money. A regular newspaper simply cannot print news, information and events and do it based upon the hope that people will BUY their newspaper. So advertisements are the true incentive in running a newspaper and we feel that isn't  within the true spirit of the First Amendmentment and how it is applied to the Freedom of the Press. As an alternative online media, we rely upon the broad laws, including the Tennessee Shield law to protect our sources and our interests. In fact, we fully understand how people can sometimes be afraid to use their real names.

Therefore, we respect and encourage anonymous free speech.
