Rhea County Informer

Who needs 400 bucks a month when you can be mayor?

There is absolutely no need for an auditorium in Dayton. Even the Welcome Center at the time didn't pan out as expected and if memory serves me, the city and county squabbled over who was going to fund the 30 something thousand bucks per year to keep it going. Anyway, back to the subject, I believe Bob Vincent is a dangerous man for Dayton. Folks, trust me. I have walked up and told him similar words while looking him in the eye. This wasn't nothing heroic or extremist, just a voter telling his mayor what a poor mayor he was. Nothing personal.

I believe that he is at a stage of his life where he feels he needs some sort of legacy. Sure, we all want ball fields named after us, books written in our favor, history reminding forever all who dare to read it...So yes, he wants a BIG building with his name on it for all his offspring to see but more importantly, his desire for immortality, vanity. Whewwwww.

Anyways, Dayton does not need a single public project UNTIL Dayton can do something to attract businesses which in plain english translates into JOBS. Just like a poster made the comment that Dayton does not even have a movie theater in it. Mayor Vincent doesn't actually care about "jobs". The man is retired and has stressed that fact over and over. Had Bob Vincent been an "average Joe" trying to serve as a $400 a month mayor of a small, impoverished town he may think more in the line of bringing "jobs" in around Dayton. That way Joe can earn a decent living and supplement that living doing his public duty mayoral STUFF. We all could safely bet that he would give the 400 bucks a month up in an instant IF he had the choice of being mayor for FREE, with no salary, or NOT be mayor but keep the $400 per month. He has by far made his money and doesn't want the 400 bucks a month, he wants the power to be something he always dreamt of, as he has stated that this was his life long dream, to grow up and be mayor.

Geeez Usss.

Hey, maybe I am the minority here, but my gut tells me things are going to get far, far worse for us little towns before they get better. Then as if that wasn't enough now we have the damn swine flu to worry about. We all need to really wake up folks. After all, if we live in the state of Tennessee, we're sorta in the same boat.
